Wind Energy Development at Minjiang: Potential Impact on Important Staging and Wintering site of Spoon-billed Sandpiper in China.
According to an online article in Wind Energy and Electric Vehicle Magazine, “The high, consistent average wind speed in Minjiang estuary, a locale in [Fujian Province, China], makes it an ideal location for harnessing wind resources. Insiders believe this is just the beginning of a major boom in the wind power sector across the province.”

Minjiang Estuary is a key staging and overwintering site for the Critically Endangered Spoon-billed Sandpiper. Offshore wind farms are also planned in the West Sea (ROK part of the Yellow Sea). How might such developments impact migratory bird populations? And what can be done to reduce potential impacts?
